There are many people living in Hawai'i with very limited finances. Many times health care screenings are not done because funding or community programs are not available. PHM has nurses who regularly visit where persons reside as well as the beaches where homeless people are located. There are two ways to assist with these programs.
Volunteer Nurses and Nursing Students
Nurses and student nurses may volunteer to assist with blood pressures and health screenings for persons who may have no or very limited health care. The goal is to identify potential health problems and keep people living independently. Nurses and students are needed to assist with on-site clinics.
General Volunteers
General volunteers assist the nursing staff with registration and visitation with persons coming to the clinics. Training and on-going support is provided to all volunteers.
